About 100 people attended the Durango rally on Dec. 12 for #HealthforAll to hear speakers including Guinn Unger, a leader for both Indivisible Durango’s Healthcare and Senior Issues Committee and Community Organizer for the Colorado Foundation for Universal Health Care; Dr. Kirsten Searfus, a family practitioner in Durango; Dr. Lauri Costello, a recently retired primary care physician in Durango; and Darren White, a businessman also involved with La Plata County THRIVE, an organization focused on a living wage for all. White spoke about the impact of rising health care rates on businesses small and large.
Durango Herald reporter Patrick Armijo interviewed local resident Werner Heiber, raised in Switzerland, who said even 70 years ago no one worried about healthcare, it was just provided to all citizens. He is still astounded that America isn’t taking steps toward universal healthcare. Read the Herald article here.
About five dogs each also attended the Durango rally and the Fort Collins rally.
