While living in the Washington, DC area for 30 years, Sydney Jacobs worked in a wide variety of education fields including environmental education and teaching English to adult immigrants.
She raised a family with her husband Mark and became involved in issues around plastic pollution and the growing waste problem, joining the Maryland Sierra Club leadership to get state and local legislation passed.
Sydney’s interest in single-payer health care grew out of her personal experiences with the current health care system and a growing awareness of the appalling injustice of a profit-driven health delivery system. Just before moving to Colorado, she led a successful campaign to get her local county council to pass a resolution supporting Medicare for All.
She returned with Mark to her native Colorado from the East Coast in early 2021 to live a quieter life in Fremont County.
