Emmett Blaney, MSW
Originally hailing from rural Wyoming, Emmett earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Willamette University before returning to the Mountain West to earn a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver.
After graduating, he worked as the Policy Coordinator for the Rocky Mountain chapter of Young Invincibles supporting higher education, workforce, and health care legislation in the Colorado legislative sphere. He currently serves as a Community Outreach Associate for the Environmental Protection Network, where he supports their capacity-building technical assistance program by working one-on-one with communities experiencing environmental injustices to mitigate environmental and health harms in their communities.
Through his work and his personal life, he finds himself at the nexus of many healthcare justice issues, LGBTQ+ health care, chronic disease treatment, and health care access for rural community members.
He is a lover of single-payer health care, reckless optimism, and the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice.
