Medical Professionals for Universal Health Care

Dr. Madeleine Jacobs, a rural family physician for 28 years, left her practice frustrated that our health care system wouldn’t allow her to care for her patients. In her last year of practice, three asthmatics ended up on ventilators because they couldn’t afford their medications; three other patients died of colon cancer because they couldn’t afford their colonoscopies. She felt that her life was a continuous battle, trying to get basic care for treatable illnesses. Jacobs decided to spend her time, instead, working for universal health care.

“In all the countries around the world that have made the moral decision to care for all their people, they pay half what Americans pay, cover everyone, and enjoy better health outcomes.” ~ Madeleine Jacobs, MD
