Statements for Ballot Measures Fall 2026

Colorado Foundation for Universal Health Care’s mission to improve the health care of all Coloradans is of utmost importance in our Board’s decision to endorse and oppose certain measures on the ballot in November 2026.

We support Amendment 87 – Graduated Income Tax and Proposition NN – Keep and Spend Money for Education and Other Purposes.  We encourage everyone to vote Yes on these measures.

We oppose Propositions 134 – Male and Female Participation in School and Collegiate Sports, 135 – Prohibit Surgery on Minors in Response to Perception of Sex or Gender, and 136 – Income Tax Rate Limit.  We encourage people to vote No on these propositions.

There are many other Amendments and Propositions on the ballot as well.  Please read as much as you can to educate yourself on all the issues on the ballot.  Your 2026 State Ballot Information Booklet, aka “the blue book,” has the complete text and pro/con discussions on each item.  The Bell Policy Center has also issued  guidance for ballot measures that can be found at https://bellpolicy.org/colorado-ballot-guide-2026/.  Capitol Commons (https://capitolcommons.ai/) also has information that is useful for this election season which is available to everyone.  Local newspapers and television news will also provide information from now until Election Day, November 3rd.  Ballots will be sent out in October.

Thank you for being a Health Care Justice voter!

Let's stand together and do better!

We stand in solidarity with all people whose lives, liberty, civil rights and human rights are under siege due to the state-sanctioned executions and violence we have all witnessed by the current regime. We stand in solidarity with all immigrants and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color who have experienced relentless brutality at the hands of this nation over the course of history.

This brutality has been consistent and pervasive in our health care system as well.

It’s no mistake that we are growing the ranks of multi-millionaires and billionaires at the same time that current and aspiring American citizens are being demonized. Fear and hatred are the tools of consolidating wealth and power.

How we pay for health care is one of those tools for consolidating wealth and power. The profit motive uses our need for health care to concentrate wealth into the hands of a few to the harm of the rest of us. It is how we have come to spend twice as much per person in the US  on health care, while dying younger and poorer.

We will continue to stand with all people and this planet until all our systems respect and support all life. This is a cooperative challenge, not a competition. Harming certain groups of people divides us in an attempt to conquer us all.

We encourage you to stand in solidarity by considering donating to and being active with Colorado’s ColoradoRapidResponseNetwork.com (CRRN).
